Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) Consultation | Department of Education

If you are interested in responding to the public consultation on the new RSE curriculum from a faith perspective, you may find this helpful from the World Council of Churches:

“Comprehensive sexuality education offers an opportunity to reclaim the gift of healthy and holy sexuality. It is a way to honour sexuality as a gift from God integral to human personhood, offering a holistic understanding that acknowledges the ways in which sexuality is integrated throughout our whole lives and across the lifespan of our existence.

So many people have been harmed by judgement and silence, and this means there is a clear vocation for the church to engage.

The church is in a position to play a central role in creating safer spaces where age and developmentally appropriate information may be shared, and education can happen. This role is undergirded by core values that cut across everything that happens in providing comprehensive sexuality education. It begins with the essential value that every person as a child of God is bestowed with worth and dignity that human judgement cannot set aside.”
