Starting this Sunday at Harbour, we’re beginning a new series: “Holy Envy: What Christians Can Learn from Other Faiths.”
Afterall, how can we truly understand our own faith if we never listen to how others speak of the divine?
Or as Rudyard Kipling said: “What do they know of England, who only England know?”
So begins the book “Holy Envy” by Barbara Brown Taylor. Taking inspiration from her work, we’ll be exploring what Christians might learn from other religions. Not by trying to convert anyone, but by listening with love and humility.
This isn’t dabbling or diluting. It’s a gentle exploration of gifts that other religions might offer — gifts that just might help us rediscover what we love (and sometimes forget) about our own faith.
➤ This Sunday: “Sanatana Dharma & the Divine Leisure Centre”
A gentle foray into Hinduism – not as a system to dissect, but as a path that embraces many ways of seeking the divine. What might Christians learn from a faith that makes room for yoga, myth, philosophy, family life, and forest meditation – all under one roof?
We might just find ourselves saying: “I wish we had that.”
